  TEXAS SCENE NEW AND NOW

WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Mike & the Moonpies are now Silverada. Singer Mike Harmeier said it’s
something they’ve been considering for a long time. The name was “started as a joke,” according to Rolling Stone magazine, when Harmeier played cover songs.

They felt the name was slowing their progress at a time when the national scene is more receptive to Texas music, Red Dirt and Americana.

Their new album is titled Silverada and will be released June 28. To celebrate
the release, the band will headline at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for the first time. The move, which is a bold one, tells fans and the music industry that this band is entering a new chapter in their career.
